Description | General view of District line platforms at Earls Court station; the photographer is standing on the westbound island platform looking eastwards. This view shows the glazed overall roof, platform kiosks, early illuminated train describers, a somewhat unusual solid disc station name roundel, and large signs indicating the escalator or "Moving Stairway" to the Piccadilly line. The colour light signals, upper foreground right, can be contrasted with the semaphore signals in the background; note that the latter are set against a white board, presumably to aid identification by train drivers. A train with 1st class compartments stands at the outer face of the eastbound platform, extreme left. Staff and passengers can be seen on both platforms. |
