Description | Two columns of football fans, walking up either side of Bridge Road three or four abreast, after watching England defeat West Germany 4-2 in the 1966 World Cup final. The crowd on the left, which includes a man carrying a Union Jack, is heading towards Wembley Park Underground station, Metropolitan and Bakerloo (now Jubilee) lines, whose entrance can be seen on the brow of the hill. Several policemen on horseback are helping to control the crowd as it enters the station. Note the pole-mounted roundel on the station roof. |
