Description | Finchley Central, Northern line. High angle exterior platform view of the station in April 1940, at the time of introduction of Underground services. A 1938-tube stock train, bearing a 'Special' destination blind, stands on the right hand side of the island platform, whilst a LNER steam-hauled train (running 'bunker first') waits on the adjacent track. Extensions have been built to both platforms; that to the single platform on the right appears to be of wooden construction. Building work is underway in the area next to the original station building. Conductor rails have been installed on all three tracks. A single deck bus is standing in the station approach road. |
