Description | Traffic in the Strand, looking east, with Gaiety Theatre on left, St Mary-le-Strand church background centre, and Somerset House (the colonnaded building) midground right. The rear of three double-deck buses are visible, the one nearest the camera being a K-type, Reg no XH5916 (K211), bound for Hackney Wick; a man is about to descend the steps from the top deck, a woman passenger is standing on the platform at the foot of the steps, whilst another woman is about to board. On the opposite side of the road, a NS-type bus heads towards Tooting on route 77A. The pavement outside the Gaiety Theatre is busy, and large numbers of people are crossing the road. The sandwich-board man is advertising the Palladium's latest production 'When Knights Were Bold' |
