Description | High angle view of the platforms at Acton Town station, looking west. Combined concrete roundel/poster panels can be seen on the platforms. The globes of the Bauhaus-style lights have been painted over, presumably as an air raid precaution measure. Trains occupy either side of the eastbound platform on the right; a District 1927 K-stock train, bound for Mansion House, stands at the inner face, whilst a standard-tube stock train, on a Piccadilly line service to Cockfosters, waits at the outer face of the platform. The driver of the latter train is standing at the door of his cab, with one foot on the platform. Another District line train stands at the outer face of the westbound platform, midground left. A concrete footbridge crosses tracks and platforms. The station building stands background centre. |
