The Plessey military components factory installed in eastern extension Central line tunnels during the Second World War. A women factory worker operates an 18ins gauge battery locomotive, used to transport materials and completed components across the factory. Narrow gauge railway tracks were installed in each of the twin tube tunnels, the factory was located between Whipps Cross and a point east of of Gants Hill.
