Description | This photo, taken in 1981 at Victoria Underground station, shows a member of London Underground staff emptying cash from a ticket machine. The machine issued tickets to a number of destinations for 50p each. The stations are listed on the machine including Baker Street, Clapham Common and Russell Square. A fare from Victoria to Baker street in 1981 was just 50p. In 1971, London Transport had to alter all its ticket machines when decimalisation introduced new coinage to the UK. |
