Description | South Kensington station was designed to be incorporated into an exclusive shopping arcade. This 1929 photo shows the outside of the station. Some of the shops are just visible through the entrance. The station is also linked to the subway under Exhibition Road that leads to the Natural History, Science, and Victoria & Albert museums. During the First World War, the subway was used to store art treasures from the Imperial Institute, later re-named the Commonwealth Institute. |
