Description | Angel station was opened on the City & South London Railway in 1901. The line later became the Northern line, part of London Underground. The station was redesigned between 1922 and 1924. The sharp Modernist Art Deco styling can be clearly seen in this photo of 1926. The photo also shows a number of people outside the station, including two little girls. They are dressed in smock aprons, common for children at that time. The original building was on City Road in Islington but in 1992 the entire site was redeveloped. Angel station entrance is now on Upper Street. |
