Description | The building on the right next to the footbridge is Roding Valley Halt station. It is on the outskirts of London, in Essex, and is one of the smallest stations on the Underground system. The station was opened in 1936 on the London & North Eastern Railway, which had run on this route since 1903. It was built as a response to growing local demand because of suburban expansion. It offered a commuter route into the heart of the city. Roding Valley station became part of the electrified Central line in 1948. |
