    Biography
Shezad Dawood is an artist and photographer. He lives and works in London, where he grew up. His father was born in India, his mother in Pakistan, his stepmother was Irish Catholic. Dawood's work, which merges popular imagery from the East and West, can be seen to act as a metaphor for his own search for cultural identity. Dawood produced a number of paintings which recreate iconic western film posters. 'Taxi Driver', presents seedy downtown Karachi as its backdrop, in place of Times Square. English and Urdu text was then added to the photograph. The whole thing was painted to the scale of Scorsese's original, by a team of cinema billboard painters.
