    Biography
'Bob and Roberta Smith' is the pseudonym used by conceptual artist Patrick Brill. It is believed that Brill invented a number of artist personas, each of whom sent work to prospective galleries. The first positive response was to Bob and Roberta Smith. The artist has become best know for brightly coloured slogans, painted on reclaimed timber or board. Each carries a witty or subversive message, questioning the worlds of art, politics and popular culture. As well as sign painting, he also makes sculptures in cement, performs music with 'The Ken Ardley Playboys', and hosts the radio show 'Make Your Own Damn Music'. In 2006 he curated The Brick Lane Gallery exhibition 'Peace Camp', featuring over a hundred artists including Gavin Turk and Wolfgang Tillmans.
