    Oscar Berger was born in Czechoslovakia. After working as a cartoonist in Prague he moved to Germany. His cartoons were unnacceptable to the Nazis so he left Germany for Budapest and Paris. He arrived in London in 1935 where he worked for the Daily Telegraph.

    Berger was famous for his caricatures of famous people, including the most important politicians of the day. He illustrated many of them while in attendance at the United Nations. His work appeared in many magazines including the New York Times, the New York Herald Tribune, Life and Le Figaro.
