    Biography
Nancy Smith was born (Annie Smith) in Chesterfield on the 24th August 1881. Nothing for certain is known of her early art training, although she may have studied at the Slade, but by 1909 she had illustrated her one and only book "The Making of School Illustrations" although she illustrated many other books. By 1920 she had a studio in Grosvenor Rd, London. In addition to her book illustrations she designed ten posters for the Underground. It would appear that she never exhibited her work in exhibitions.
