    Stanley Herbert, born in 1905, was a commercial artist primarily active in the 1930s to 1960s. He had numerous commercial clients including the Radio Times (for whom he painted covers), the RAF, children’s comics such as Eagle, and the National Savings Bank. He made wood block prints for Christmas Cards and other uses. He created posters for Imperial Airways as well as London Transport and went on to teach poster design at the Reimann School in London.
