    Cyril Power was a versatile architect and artist and worked with his family's architectural practice and the Ministry of Works. In 1912 he published History of English Mediaeval Architecture illustrated with his own drawings.

    In 1923 he studied at Heatherley's School of Art and two years later helped to establish the Grosvenor School of Modern Art. He studied linocuts with Claude Flight and rapidly developed a reputation for innovative work.

    He was especially interested in the illustration of movement and speed. Power was instrumental in obtaining poster commissions from London Transport for Sybil Andrews who acknowledged this by signing the work Andrew Power.
