    Biography
    Osbert Lancaster was born in London, the son of a publisher. He was educated at Charterhouse School and Lincoln College, Oxford (1926-1930) Byam School of Drawing and Painting (1925-1926) . From 1929 to 1930 he attended the Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford and from 1931 to 1932 he studied at the Slade School of Fine Art.

    In 1932 and 1934 he exhibited at the NEAC and joined the Architectural Rewview from 1934-1939. In 1939 he bacme a cartoonist for the Daily express.
    In addition to posters he has designed stage setsfor opera and ballet, book illustrations and cartoons. He has also worked as a writer, especially on the subject of architecture and design.
    He was knighted in 1975.
