    Thomas Derrick was born in Bristol and studied art at the Royal College of Art where he later lectured in decorative painting.

    Derrick specialised as an illustrator and mural decorator and was a regular contributor to Punch. During World War One he commissioned a series of lithographs by prominent artists for "British Work" and "British Isles". He also illustrated work for the St Dominic Press. He moved to Canada later in life.

    Derrick created his London Transport posters together with variously Katherine Ritchie and Edward Bawden.
