    Cecil Keeling was born in Teddington, Middlesex and studied at Putney School of Art from 1930 to 1934 and at Chelsea School of Art from 1935 to 1936.
    His work uses a variety of media including scraperboard, lithography, linocuts and wood engraving. In 1937, he became a designer for the BBC, and after wartime service in the Middle East and Italy, he rejoined the Corporation. In 1943, he drew for the Radio Times and the Leave, which included the illustration Pictures from Persia in 1947, which contains thirty coloured lithographs. In 1955, Keeling produced engravings for Colden Cockerel's Gothic novel, Zastrozzi.
