Attribute Value Biography A painter in oils and watercolours, Brian Robb was born in Scarborough. He was son of a minister of the Church of Scotland. Robb was educated at Malvern College, and later at Chelsea School of Art 1930-1934 and part-time at The Slade School of Fine Art 1935-1936.
During the 1930s he contributed humourous drawings to Punch, illustrated books and designed advertisements for Shell as well as London Transport. He was a member of the Society of Industrial Artists.
His lecturing at Chelsea School of Art from 1936 to 1962 was broken by service in the Middle East during World War Two. In 1963 until 1978 Robb became Head of the Illustration Department at the Royal College of Art. He illustrated many books, sometimes using pen and ink and sometimes watercolours. Amongst these titles was the 'Adventures of Odd and Elsewhere' and 'The 12 Adventures of the Celebrated Baron Munchausen'.
