    George Sheringham was a British artist, chiefly known as a designer of stage sets and decorative artist. He also worked as a painter, and his works were exhibited widely in Britain and Europe. Sheringham also illustrated a number of books and was the author of Drawing in Pen and Pencil (1922) and Design in the Theatre (1927). From 1924 to 1926, he was commissioned by the Underground Group for posters design. In later life, he continued to paint flowers until his death.
