    Peter Roberson was born in Oxford. He was awarded a scholarship to Oxford Art School where he spent three years, eventually specialising in lettering and illumination.

    Employed at the Clarendon Press from 1924, he mostly drew maps, but also designed book jackets.

    He moved to London in 1935 and worked in advertising as a visualiser, illustrator, poster designer and copywriter. (Green 1990)
