    Biography
    John Edwin Noble studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, Lambeth School of Art, and at the Royal Academy Schools.

    He was an Instructor at Calderon's School of Animal Painting 1906-12, and a lecturer on animal drawing and anatomy at the Central School of Arts And Crafts, and at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts.

    During World War One he served in the Veterinary Corps, and was an official war artist depicting horses and mules in charcoal and water-colour. He also produced a number of posters which were based on his animal paintings for the Underground Group in 1916

    He worked exclusively as an animal artist. (Riddell 1994)
