Baker Street to Bond Street Tunnel Remediation: / Winner of the Greatest Contribution to London ICE Awards 2014 / The Baker Street to Bond Street Tunnel Relining Project is a London Underground first, and involves / the relining of a substantial section of operational Jubilee Line tunnel from Baker Street to Bond / Street. The construction team carry out all works during engineering hours; a maximum 2 hour shift / per night when the Line is not running, so as to not impact the running service of the Jubilee Line. / An innovative and efficient approach is needed to maximize working time and so a 'Mobile Worksite' / was imperative to success. The Segment Handling Plant (SHP), is used in the staged replacement of / the existing precast concrete lining system with cast iron segment equivalents as seen on much of the / London Underground network. By mounting the SHP onto an engineer's train, the construction staff as / well as the bespoke piece of plant can be driven in and out of the worksite each night. / The concept of a staged tunnel ring replacement can be a daunting prospect for the travelling public. / Using the latest in 3D printing technology, an innovation in its own right, Hobs Studio have printed / a section of tunnel and the mounted SHP. This will enable the project team, and now the public to / visualise and understand how this vital project is being successfully undertaken each night and have a / view into the unseen world beneath our feet.
