Description | This is the first edition of the Underground map designed by Paul E Garbutt. The lines have been drawn with curves instead of sharp angles where there is a change in direction. White line interconnectors and circles are used to indicate interchange stations and main line interchanges are shown as a circle with a dot. The Circle line has become a fluid 'thermos flask' shape on this version of the map. The special service to Kensington (Olympia) is shown by a dotted green line. The Aldgate Station name appears on the inside of the Circle line instead of being split in half by the line as in the previous version of the diagram. The escalator connection between Bank and Monument is named with a zigzag line to represent it. South Ruislip Station is now shown as a main line interchange. |
