Description | After the First World War, the London General Omnibus Company (L.G.O.C.) introduced more permanent bus stops. This standard cast-iron post includes a 'tombstone style' flag sign with the word 'General' incorporated into the roundel symbol. The design was first introduced in 1924, and some were still in use in the early 1990s. The Birmingham Guild of Handicraft was part of the Arts & Crafts movement inspired by William Morris. Concerned with traditional design and methods of production, it was known for its high-quality metalwork. |
