Description
The new station at Piccadilly, designed by architects Adams, Holden and Pearson, opened in 1928. This photographic postcard shows different interior views of the station taken not long after the opening. Piccadilly Circus station first opened in 1906, but by 1922 it became apparent that the station would need to be expanded to accommodate growing passenger traffic. A large booking hall was built below Piccadilly Circus and new escalators, which featured the stylish bronze uplighters designed by Charles Holden.
