Description | This colour photographic postcard shows Covent Garden market, with Henrietta Street leading off the square in the distance. The Piazza is filled with people, and delivery carts full of crates and baskets. Covent Garden fruit and vegetable market, which dominated the area and occupied much of the Piazza, was at one time the largest in England. During the 1970s, the market moved to its present site at Nine Elms in south London. |
