Description | This advert, Routemaster, introduces London Transport's prototype new bus. It explains that buses have changed in size and shape throughout the last 100 years but have gradually evolved to take advantage of technical advances. The new Routemaster experimental model was introduced on Route 2 between Golders Green and Crystal Palace. Although it is similar in appearance to its predecessor the RT, it is revolutionary in its construction. It is built of aluminium alloy and has no conventional chassis, so is strong but also lightweight. The first production models were introduced in 1959, and production continued for nearly ten years. |
