Description
This press advertisement was published by London Transport in December 1956. It outlines the pending rationing procedures that were established in response to the contemporary fuel crisis. The Government requested that London Transport reduce its bus and Green Line services to save fuel oil. From the 17 December 1956, evening and Sunday services were reduced. Underground and Trolleybus services remained the same.

    STARTING on Monday, December 17, at the Government's request , London Transport must reduce its bus and Green Line services to save fuel oil.
    As far as practiable only evening and Sunday services will be reduced and this will be done in such a way as to cause the least inconvenience.
