    Text
LONDON TRANSPORT is now a part of the national transport system, and all Londoners, including the staff of London Transport, are intimately concerned in its efficiency and well-being. This space and similar spaces in other newspapers will be used once a month to take our millions of passengers into our confidence. We shall try to explain our mutual problems; we shall tell you of our plans and policies; and if we need it we shall not hesitate to ask for your help.
What then is our broad policy today? It is simply to provide a transport service worthy of London with buses and trains to match this ideal. Already a thousand buses of a new type are on the road. They set a new standard in comfort and efficiency. More buses and new trainsare on order. When our bus fleet and trains are up to date we shall strengthen our existing services to reduce the queue at the bus stop, the over-crowding in the train.
We shall then make a start on the plans, already being prepared, for extensions and improvements. We hope as fervently as any other Londoners that it will not be long before these things can be done. Meanwhile this series of advertisements will keep you in touch with what we are doing and what we are going to do. It will, we hope, give you a fuller understanding of the service that is, in a real sense, London's transport.
