Description | This sketch shows the layout for the tram tracks for West Ham Corporation Tramways on Mile end Road, close to the junctions with Brunswick Place, Jubilee Street and Leslie Street. Running between the edge of the road and the tram tracks are formal lawn gardens and, on either side of the road, all the premises are labelled and numbered according to the businesses occupying the building. Vintners Almshouses and the Mile End Distillery Company stand among numerous independent businesses. West Ham Corporation Tramways served the highly populated East End borough from 1903 to 1933. It was then taken over by London Transport. |
