Description | This coloured drawing shows the interior layout of the inter-station coach, from the top deck looking down towards the front seating. The colours depicted are those used on the final interior paintwork. The distinctive feature of the inter-station coach was its raised section at the rear that contained a large luggage compartment. The inter-station coach service was set up to link railway stations that had no direct connection to the Underground. Due to the demands of the Second World War, the service was withdrawn between 1939 and 1943, but it resumed shortly afterwards and ran until 1950. |
