Description
Great pride was taken in the service provided by and appearance of London Underground stations. This framed certificate was awarded to Willesden Green station as part of the Metropolitan Railway Stations Competition for 1932. It shows photographs of two locomotives, a steam and electric 'No.17', which represent the types of trains that operated on the Metropolitan line. The certificate also shows the Metropolitan Railway logo depicting two tunnels with steam trains and the company motto 'We work for all'. The Metropolitan designed the modern day Willesden Green station in 1925. Met services operated from the station until 1939 when the Baker Street to Stanmore services were transferred to the Bakerloo line, which was in turn superseded by the Jubilee line.
