Every year we recruit talented, creative young Londoners looking to start their career in the culture sectors, to work with our teams across a variety of projects. Meet the new cohort of Young Freelancers who, for the next year, will help us to create exhibitions, co-design activities, deliver events and much more.

Hey! My name is Shelby. I am a gallery explorer, film critiquer and environmental activist whose compass within the arts is Textiles. Upcycling wasted material is my favourite side hustle! Sustainability is embedded into all of my artistic endeavours and is intrinsic to my approach to creativity, particularly when exploring art through culture and community

Hey! My name is Noah. I have an American-Spanish background, having emigrated over to Europe during the pandemic. I am an art appreciator, and taking day trips to museums around England is a favourite treat of mine. I studied art and art education in college, and I have an immense love of sculpture, painting, literature, and culture. I like to bake, sketch, and write whenever the passion arises. I’m self-taught and I have a fascination with history, philosophy, religion, politics, psychology, science, palaeontology, economics and nature. On the more mundane side, I love spending time with the family dog!

Hiya, I’m Rania. A little Indonesian from South East London. My background is in design and architecture but right now, I’m ready to explore the world of culture and heritage through London Transport Museum. I believe museums are so much more than places protecting and displaying past artifacts, it is the stories of the myths, the legends, the traditions and memories attached to those artifacts that keep the past alive.

On a sunny day, I like to romanticise my life and sit in a park with my sketchbook. I also like to eat out (although it hurts my bank account) as food is a big love language of mine and it’s a great way of experiencing new cultures.

Hi, I’m Vanessa. I moved from Zürich to London over 10 years ago and I studied graphic design at college and university. What I love about graphic design is that it allows you to capture a message visually, while evoking feelings through the use of graphic elements. This is something that museums do brilliantly and is the reason why I love museums in the first place! I’m always inspired by how they visually tell stories in such a creative and engaging way.

Another thing I’m really interested in is Transport for London and its design history which all started when I learned about the Barman moquette. It has always been important to me to spend my time doing meaningful work which has led me to exploring the museum and cultural sector. I’m really excited to see what this year at London Transport Museum has in store for me! In my spare time I love to hunt for vintage clothes, I like to explore with old mediums such as my video tape recorder, go on long nature walks, visit museums and exhibitions, get inspired by design and fashion trends from the 1960s to the 2000s and of course meet up with my friends!

Hello there, I’m Nancy! I have an architecture and urban planning background, where my interest in designing accessible, sustainable and climate change-friendly spaces informed by communities stems from. Furthermore, visual-related art and exhibitions fascinate and excite me. Conveying and expressing emotions and thoughts visually and graphically is a craft I would love to master. I cannot wait to explore and learn more this year with the London Transport Museum team and my fellow Young Freelancers.

I enjoy discovering new music, films and exhibitions and concerts whenever possible. Currently, I am enjoying act 1 of Renaissance by Beyoncé and looking forward to the other acts and her tour.

Hi I’m Vaishna. I’m from South London. I studied history at university, specialising in modern African history. I’m really interested in museums as a centre for public history, as a place to combine my academic interests with storytelling and engaging with the wider public. You can usually find me in a gallery, with my friends, or talking about how I should be at the gym!
