Event description

Join us this Pride month to celebrate LGBTQ+ London, Londoners, and transport workers. Test your knowledge of iconic LGBTQ+ London venues, stories and transport trivia in a mini quiz hosted by Drag extraordinaire The Nightbus to be in with a chance of winning a prize. Discover LGBTQ+ histories in London’s transport story in a line-up of short talks, join a creative workshop to design a look for a Pride march, create your own map of LGBTQ+ London, and enjoy a set from DJ Ritu MBE with a drink from one of our bars.

This event is co-created with OUTbound, TfL’s LGBTQ+ Colleague Network Group.

This is an 18+ event.

Creative workshop

18:30 – 22:00

Glad rags: get creative and design something to wear to a Pride march. Take inspiration from TfL costume creations from previous years of Pride in London parades and express yourself through the art of dress!  

Be inspired

For one night only, see the Tube-themed gown worn at Pride by Crossrail Programme Accountant Ervin Corzo-Rueda, and chat to Ervin about the co-designing process. 

Quiz

Test your knowledge of LGBTQ+ London in a mini quiz hosted by The Nightbus. Quiz questions will include iconic venues, historic moments and a special transport round!  

The Nightbus is an artist, a visionary and a route home after one too many Whisky Sours up West! Treading the boards of London’s Cabaret and Nightlife scene for nearly ten years, you’re in for a treat as this 7 foot Glamazon on Wheels eases you into a month of all things PRIDE! 

In Conversation with OUTbound

Join OUTbound, TfL’s LGBTQ+ colleague network group, as they discuss their work within London’s transport network, travel safety for LGBTQ+ Londoners, and the evolution of the staff network group from its inception to present day. Speakers include Claire Alleguen, Chair, and Alexander Garnett-Scherer, Vice Chair of OUTbound.

Queering public spaces

Join Professor Pippa Catterall for a short talk and Q&A exploring her research into how public spaces and queer spaces relate, and how to design queer safe spaces, then join Pippa for a workshop mapping your own queer London. 

Music by DJ Ritu MBE

DJ Ritu MBE will be on the decks playing pop, disco, soul and house. DJ Ritu MBE is a globe-trotting turntablist, broadcaster, producer, and the voice of the UK’s definitive independent global music show, A World in London. Renowned for her eclectic music sets played in over 36 countries, Ritu’s club repertoire includes the Boiler Room, Fabric, Steel Yard, Printworks, Pride In London, Duckie, Southbank Surfing, BFI Flare, and she is the co-founder of legendary LGBTQ+ Club Kali (29 years). 

Bar

Grab a drink from London’s hottest new lesbian bar La Camionera Following the incredible response to their residency launch in February, La Camionera are planning to open a permanent bar and cafe in Hackney where people can lounge about, talk, and just spend time in a laid back setting.
