Introduction

Route into Work is a free, short pre-employment course to train, prepare and guide candidates through each stage of a Transport and Infrastructure apprenticeship or entry-level role application process.

Our Route into Work courses are designed in partnership with some of the sectors best employers to support young Londoners into live Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships and other entry-level roles across the industry.

We are particularly keen to receive applications from those of you who are finding it challenging to gain stable employment and lack the support you need to help you on your journey into a career in transport or Infrastructure.

What do people say?

100% of participants rate the course as GOOD or EXCELLENT.

I think the course was brilliant, personally I wouldn’t change anything. The best employment course I’ve been on. It’s helped me so much. I’ve learnt more in 3 days than some courses I’ve been on for weeks.

Who is Route into Work for?

  • Young people aged 16-25 seeking careers in the transport and infrastructure sector

  • Each apprenticeship has slightly different entry requirements. A minimum of 2 GCSE’s A*- C/ Grade 4+ (or equivalent) including Maths and English language.

  • Must not be working towards, or already hold, a qualification which is at the same level or higher in the same or a closely related subject to the apprenticeship scheme

  • Must have the right to work in the UK

We encourage applications from all backgrounds and encourage you to apply if you are from a background that is underrepresented in the transport sector, or if you are a woman or if you consider yourself to have a disability.

Still unsure if Route into Work is for you?

Here at London Transport Museum we want to work with people aged 16-25 who are under or unemployed and seeking meaningful careers in the transport and Infrastructure industry.

Are you untapped talent?

Perhaps you’re ready for work but facing barriers to getting the start you need in your chosen field. You may be unemployed and out of education, stuck as an endless professional volunteer, or underemployed – working in low wage/low prospect jobs and lacking the support to make a change.

Are you a trailblazer?

Maybe you’re seeking employment in sectors that do not yet reflect you or our city’s diversity – diversity of gender, cultural background, sexuality, disability, class and the places where they intersect. You bring a fresh perspective, new ideas and lived experiences that will shape and develop the future workforce.

Let’s talk!

If you’d like to discuss whether this course is right for you, we are ready and keen to answer your questions. Please email [email protected] to find out more.

Quote 2

Route into Work was an opportunity that I’ve never been through and it has been like a dream and amazing. Especially how the support we have gotten is related to each stage of the application to the apprenticeship. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to progress in the future and do something with their life.
