| Description | London Transport Road Trainers cap badge. Chrome-plated, in roundel style, inscribed "LONDON TRANSPORT" across bar. Roundel infilled ochre enamel, and roundel centre infilled turquoise enamel. Lugs on reverse, pin missing. This badge formed part of a new series of unified designs developed for LT by the Design Research Unit in the early 1970s, with different coloured roundel centres according to grades. Road Trainers were motormen and guards qualified to give on the road supervision and route learning instructions to trainees (Lawrence, 1989, p.52 / Fig.91). |
