Description | During the First World War, many bus and Underground employees volunteered to serve in the war. To mark this, a war service badge was issued by the government. This one was awarded to Mr G E Morris in 1915.These badges were authorised by Minister of Munitions David Lloyd George, who went on to become Prime Minister. George Edward Morris lived in Battersea and worked as a bus driver for the London General Omnibus Company (L.G.O.C.). He worked on the buses during the First World War and his daughter Georgina Eleanor Martha Morris also joined the L.G.O.C. and worked as a conductor from 1918 to 1919. |
