Description | London Transport commissioned this poster in 1960. It promotes the recent production of new aluminium Tube stock. The Piccadilly and Central lines were re-equipped with 1,200 of the new cars. The aluminium was lighter and did not need to be painted; this increased efficiency and lowered maintenance costs. Other features included rubber suspension, fluorescent lighting and more passenger space in each carriage. |
