Description | London Transport commissioned this poster in 1958 to promote the Twin Rover ticket. At 8 shillings and sixpence the ticket permitted Underground travel as well as travel on central bus services. In Peter Roberson's design, the bus stop represents a gateway to the magnificent monuments and buildings the City has to offer. The text at the bottom is from the poem Scherzando, by William Ernest Henley, which was published in 1893 in London Voluntaries. The poster challenges the public to identify the poem, offering a prize of two free Twin Rover tickets for the first ten correct answers. |
