Description | Judges inspect a station garden at Hammersmith Underground station (now Hammersmith & City line). It was awarded a third prize of £1 in the Metropolitan line section. The garden's creator, Station Master Barker, is standing on the track, talking to some of the judges. This garden is still planted with flowers rather than much-needed food crops, even in the middle of the Second World War. The advert behind the garden promotes Ovaltine. |
