Description | This photo shows a Routemaster bus being overhauled at Aldenham Works. The works, opened in 1954, and became the main London Transport bus works. By the time this photo was taken full overhauls were carried out once every six years. Here, the body of a RM-type bus is being lifted by crane from the chassis to allow access to the running units. The inspection is taking place in the Dismount and Invertors shop, supervised by shop foreman Jim Coney. |
