Description | Holden style lantern desined for use in staircases & corridors, sitting close to ceiling. Consists of a frame & a hinged unit which allows the fitting to be swung proud of the wall allowing for maintenence. Opaque perspex shade is unlikely to be original. E/S screw fitting in a porcelain holder with a white enamelled reflector backplate. Similar light fittings were used at many 1930's stations, such as at Bethnal Green where they were fitted to the subway railings. |
