Description | Architect Leslie Green was commissioned by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London Ltd (U.E.R.L.) to create a unified style for the Underground. The 'Acanthus leaf' tile was a regular feature in the stations he designed. This one was part of the panelled dado that ran along booking office walls at Charing Cross (Strand) station on the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway (C.C.E. & H.R.). The station was later renamed Charing Cross and became part of the Northern line. |
