Join us down at the Depot for a fun filled transport weekend for all the family.

Find out how London’s transport is making tracks towards sustainability, to keep our city green for the future - as part of our Climate Crossroads programme.

Take part in family workshops and creative activities, find out what active travel really means, see exciting vehicle displays and take your time exploring the Depot and its world class transport collection.  

SEND opening

For families with special educational needs and disabilities, we are reserving the 10:00 and 10:30 timeslots to explore the Depot in peace and take part in a sensory storytelling session or hands-on activities. Tickets sold separately.

What's On

Family activities

Join us high up on the mezzanine in our Family Zone, with an exciting view over the Depot’s trains.

Take part in ‘Green Street’, where you can create transport vehicles using recycled materials inspired by wind-power, solar power and green energy. Or cuddle up on the mats and enjoy reading stories about vehicles or play with the soft play shapes. 

On the mezzanine, 10:00 – 15:30 every day. Best for ages 5-12.

Family Depot Sustainability Trail

Get your explorer caps on at the Depot and discover fun facts from the past, present and future of transport innovation.

You’ll be spotting vehicles, completing activities and working as a team as you uncover how developments in engineering, design and technology have always kept London’s transport system moving towards a more sustainable future.

Storytelling

Settle down and enjoy two stories inspired by our weekend’s sustainability theme: Meet Poppy the Petrol Electric Pioneer, find out all about her exciting journey to Acton Depot and how she was way ahead of her time!

And enjoy the call of the wild as you hear about Kayla the Kestrel’s Fight Down Memory Lane with her young son Kenny as they swoop and dive around London’s green spaces and see how the city is becoming a cleaner, greener place to live. 

Lecture theatre at 10:45, 11:45, 13:15, 14:15 and 15:15. Lasts approx 20 minutes.

Best for ages 7 and under.  

Bus display

Visit our exciting vehicle display out the back to see the past, present and future of London’s buses.  

All day, out the back. 

Transport in Miniature LEGO displays 

Marvel at the displays of miniature transport creations made with LEGO bricks, talk to the creators on site, and get inspired to create your own when you get home.

Throughout the Depot

Explore our collections 

Discover over 300,000 objects from signs and maps to trains, trams and buses at the Depot - including the last surviving 1930s District Line Q stock train cars and check out the progress being made on this current Museum restoration project. 

See our restored signalling frames run and discover how they work, and try your hand at being a train operator in our Victoria line train equipment display in the Large Object store.

Throughout the Depot

Miniature railway

Enjoy a ride on our very own miniature railway, run by our volunteers and based on real London Underground locomotives, carriages, signals and signs. 

Tickets sold separately. £5 per carriage (1 adult and 4 children, 2 adults and 3 children OR 3 adults) or £1 per single ticket. £9 for 10 rides with purchase of LTMR Miniature Oyster Card.

Shopping

Our Depot Shop will be open for all your shopping needs! We’ve got books, socks, cushions, kids toys and much much more. Our art stall will also be selling limited edition and framed prints as well as reproduction posters at great prices.

Plus our pop-up shop outside will be selling original Underground signs, moquette pieces, car line diagrams and many more authentic collectibles.

The Friends’ Shop will be also open, selling a wide range of second-hand books, transport models, maps and other ephemera, all at bargain prices. All proceeds are given to the Museum for vehicle restoration, new acquisitions, and other significant projects.

Eating & drinking

Take a break at the back of the depot with a visit to Mini Bean Coffee, serving up delicious coffee, tea, cakes and light snacks. Seating is also available if you want to bring your own picnic.
