Family Whats On

There's something for the whole family at London Transport Museum. We run a range of events - come and enjoy singing and story sessions every week during term time, or explore our collection with special events every school holiday, including creative and crafty activities linked to our exhibitions and collection.

All our family events in the Museum are free with your admission ticket - which is valid for unlimited entries all year. Kids go free!

NEW TO 2020! This year, take part in our new Museum Missions! Explore the Museum with your family during February and October half terms and the summer holidays as you take part in different activities and learn all about London and its world-famous transport.

February half term - Signs and Symbols

Start your first Museum Mission in February and discover more about London’s favourite signs and symbols.

London’s transport system is one of the most recognisable in the world. Your mission is to find out why signs and symbols are so important to London.

Visit the Museum during half term and pick up a Museum Mission from the Family Desk. Explore the Museum and look out for the activities you and your family can take part in: discover our collection with object handling, take part in games and role play, colouring in and even some dressing up!

Plus, join us for familiar party games throughout the day in the Transportorium.

All activities suitable for families with children 3-12 - but everyone is welcome!.

This event is most suitable for children aged 8 to 12 years old, but can be attended by all of the family. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are not available for adults without children.

Join us for a special event next February half term at London Transport Museum.

Vicki Pipe and Geoff Marshall, the dynamic duo behind All the Stations, will be welcoming young guests to the museum to discuss their latest books, The London Underground: 50 things to See and Do and Great British Railways: 50 Things to See and Do.

Hear all about Vicki and Geoff’s unusual journeys, discover unique and interactive games to play and sights to see, and embark on intriguing and fact filled journeys that will change the way you see train travel forever.

Copies of Geoff and Vicki’s new books will be available to buy at London Transport Museum and the authors will be signing copies after their talk.

For families with children aged 5 and under. Free with museum admission.

Join us to find out how people get around the city. With stories about hopping on a bus to the Museum and songs about catching a tube to London Town, there’s something for everyone. Sessions include singing and dancing, as well as the chance to see and touch objects from the Museum collection.

Do you know who Billy Brown of London Town is? He had a very important transport job 70 years ago...

Explore the Museum this Easter as you hunt for Billy Brown! Pick up a hunt card at the Family Desk to help you track him down (he'll be hiding our galleries!) and decipher the clues to find out who he is and what his job is. 

You and your family can also take part in colouring in a BIG picture with other families, building with soft play and reading transport books cosied up together in our Metroland gallery.

Depot guided tours

Explore our Museum Depot on a guided tour and discover the treasure trove of trains, buses, models, posters, maps, signs and more as you learn about London and its transport history!

Object of the month

This cross section of Piccadilly Circus is known as a 'stomach diagram' as it shows the 'insides' of the station. You can clearly see the booking hall, escalators, passageways and platforms of the station!
