Description | Tower Wagons were used on tram and trolleybus systems for the maintenance of overhead wires. This purpose-built tower wagon was constructed in 1937. Its body design allows space to house equipment and accommodate a crew. When working up on the telescopic tower, communication with the driver was possible by ringing a bell. After the withdrawal of trolleybuses in 1962, this vehicle was converted to a breakdown lorry. It was bought and restored back to its former condition by London Transport Museum in 1985. |
