Description | Down Street Underground station, Piccadilly line. Exterior view of the station which was designed by Leslie W Green (opened 1907, closed 1932). The station, seen in three-quarter front view, presents a facade of glazed (maroon coloured) tiles; three semi-circular windows are situated directly above three entrance/exit ways. A flat-topped, glazed station canopy (incorporating an 'UndergrounD' sign and fringed with a decorative ironwork border) hangs above the left entrance. Spherical lamps on curved arms are located above Underground posters flanking the same entrance way. A woman stands at a tobacconists in the doorway of the central entrance. |
