Description | Tunnel Segment Erector in situ at Kings Cross, during the C&SLR (Northern line) reconstruction project. The Erector is a large machine based on a thick vertical post, with an arm (possibly hydraulic powered) which pushes tunnel segments into place from an axis corresponding roughly to the centre of the circle of the tunnel. It is in use at one end of a broad tunnel which has a much narrower tunnel continuing at the workmen's ground level to the left side. |
